About blythes

Blythe dolls are collectible dolls. There are three blythe sizes – petite, middie and neo. I’ve got two out of three -a middie has yet to join my dolly family.

There’s usually a blythe doll release about every month or so. This is usually announced at the CWC website with an illustration first and then later a picture set showing the doll in her outfits and her eyechip colors. Each blythe edition usually has a side story/theme. There’s a history of blythes gallery to show all the releases to date. But it is spread over quite a few pages and does not list the face mold of the dolls.

There are presently the following five face molds.

  • BL
  • EBL
  • SBL
  • RBL
  • FBL

There is more information on these at the Puchicollective website.

Dr. Blythenstein has done up a neat set of photos under his Blythe Catalogue set in his flickr photostream and it’s a great way to see the releases in chronological order at one glance. Here’s the latest contact sheet. For the earlier releases, please visit the set.

A lot about the blythe hobby, sometimes called Blything, is the community. You can find other like minded individuals at forums such as blythe kingdom (formerly called plastic paradise) and Gina Garan’s This is Blythe.
